Arts Program

The Visual Arts and Crafts programs, alongside our Creating Music using Technology courses (AMC1O, AMC2O, AMC3O), offer a dynamic range of creative pathways from grades 9 through 11, all aligned with the Ontario Curriculum. The foundational Visual Arts courses (AVI1O and AVI2O for grades 9 and 10) introduce students to a wide array of artistic mediums, establishing a strong understanding of the core elements and principles of art through extensive hands-on creation and the development of essential skills. Building upon this base, Grade 10 students can also explore foundational skills in three-dimensional art through Visual Arts (Crafts) (AWA2O). In Grade 11, students can further specialize their artistic pursuits through two pathways: Visual Arts (AVI3O) delves deeper into specific mediums like painting, printmaking, and sculpture, encouraging personal expression and engagement with significant themes while emphasizing the creative process and critical analysis; and Visual Arts (Crafts) (AWA3OI) offers a more focused exploration of three-dimensional art and design. Complementing these visual arts offerings, the Creating Music using Technology courses (AMC1O, AMC2O, AMC3O) provide a student-driven environment where students of all experience levels can learn to create music using technology as the primary tool. Through engaging assignments such as designing album covers, business cards, and websites, exploring music theory, and researching favorite artists, students develop both their musical and entrepreneurial skills.
